Fruit and leaf fortifying agent

WETSTOP® is a fortifying agent that protects leaves and fruit and regulates their transpiration. It reduces water loss through evaporation, increasing fruit production even when there is limited irrigation.
For open-air crops, WETSTOP® regulates transpiration, acting as a thermal insulator to reflect infrared and ultraviolet radiation (which heats up the fruit and leaves and causes them to scorch) while allowing the visible light that plants need for photosynthesis to pass through. The best results are achieved in C3 plants and plants without stomatal regulation.

PROPERTIES:

  • Free-flowing white powder for making a suspension in water (d50 = 2-4 microns, d99 < 10 microns)
  • R-46 Reflection > 94%
  • Insoluble in water
  • Synthesis product (constant quality)
  • Environmentally friendly

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Reduces transpiration: It actively captures CO2 and preconcentrates it in the interphase with mesophyll, resulting in more efficient use of water and higher CO2 availability for RuBisCO
    • Reduces water loss. More efficient use
    • Increases fruit production (tests on strawberries and maize)
  • Reduces mesophyll temperature (by 3°C), increasing CO2 solubility and RuBisCO yield
  • Filters UV radiation (selectively absorbs UVB), protecting the functional integrity of the mechanisms involved in photosynthesis

POTENTIAL USES:

WETSTOP® could potentially also be used to:

  • Regulate free moisture thanks to its desiccating abilities (aerial dusting in greenhouses); Inhibits fungal action (Botrytis)
  • Reduces the damage caused by certain insects: Changes the surface colour and texture, making it harder for insects to identify the fruit and leaves
