FMC Foret is present in the construction market, providing additives for cement, concrete and asphalt.
Liquid silicates (Liquid Sodium Silicate and Liquid Potassium Silicate) are used in cement as components, sealants and accelerants for the curing process due to their ability to react with the portlandite to create hydrated calcium silicate, which increases resistance to abrasion and chemicals as well as the durability of the cement.
Potassium silicates are used to avoid problems of blooming in the cement.
Soluble silicates (Liquid Sodium Silicate) are used in geotechnical applications to waterproof and stabilize sandy soils, by injecting the liquid into the ground where it reacts with materials that cause the silicate to gel or harden.
Zeolite A improves the ductility of asphalt, allowing it to be manipulated at lower than average temperatures, enhances compacting and provides increased resistance against deformation.
Using Zeolite also avoids the separation of aggregates in concrete and mortars. |
