SILFLOC® is a base reagent that can be used as a flocculating agent for treating all types of water:
- Drinking water (Royal Decree 140/2003 and Order SAS/1915/2009)
- Domestic wastewater
- Industrial wastewater
- Brackish/Seawater
- Reclaimed water
It is of particular interest for the drinking water sector since it complies with Standard UNE-EN-1209 but is not limited in its field of use like some other flocculants.
The flocculation process takes place in situ. A Saosil Treatment Unit is needed, which adds the Silfloc® to the water together with special reagents to produce activated silica.

The equipment is designed based each client’s particular needs. The compact size of the treatment unit means it needs very little space and can even be mounted on a moveable platform. It works automatically, continuously, and safely. It is easy to operate and has minimum supervision and maintenance requirements.
Our Technical Department assesses each individual case in order to offer a tailor-made solution to every customer:
- Laboratory tests. Prior to the pilot tests, the laboratory determines the viability of using Silfloc® and the optimum operating conditions.
- On-site pilot test (industrial scale). This test is used to optimise the laboratory-determined settings in order to achieve as high a yield as possible.
- On-going technical assessment.
