FMC Foret markets two different quality levels of Sodium Bisulphate (concentration 40%), depending on the applications to which they are destined:
- Food Grade, as a food preservative.
- Drinking Water Grade, as a reducing agent (dechlorination).
- Technical Grade, used as a reducing agent and as a bleach for paper, etc.
USES
- Food: Preservation of fruit, crustacean vegetable juices (antimelanosic agent).
- Beer industry: Sterilization of barrels, tanks and general equipment.
- Tanning: Reducing agent for dichromates in chrome tanning.
- Paper: Antichlorine agent after bleaching with hypochlorite.
- Textiles: Antichlorine agent in bleaching baths Wool bleaching.
- Water Treatment: Reducing agent.
- Miscellaneous:
- Photography: Reducing agent, preservative in fixers.
- Synthetic fibres: Catalyst in polymerization Introduction of SO3 radicals.
- Surfactants: Reagent in the manufacture of sodium alkylsulphosuccinate.
